Michelle Murphy was born in Iowa City and moved with her family to Northern California when she was five. Later, she settled in San Francisco for a long stint and, along with her husband, raised two daughters in the heart of North Beach.  She now lives in Reno, Nevada, near the beautiful Truckee River. She is the author of Disheveled Histories (Wet Cement Press), Synonym for Home (Wet Cement Press), and Jackknife & Light (Avec Books) as well as two chapbooks. Recently, she's become Safta to two wonderful baby boys.
